Wow!

Scientists who conducted the most comprehensive survey to date of New Zealand’s Antarctic waters were surprised by the size of some specimens found, including jellyfish with 12-foot tentacles and 2-foot-wide starfish.

A 2,000-mile journey through the Ross Sea that ended Thursday has also potentially turned up several new species, including as many as eight new mollusks.

Tuesday Travel Blogging

January 16, 2008 · No Comments

One of the themes I’d like to touch upon in this blog is that of travel. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to travel to a few places in my life so far that have given me great experiences and allowed me to learn a lot about the rest of the world.

In late 2006, I was given the opportunity (a travel grant from the United Way) to visit Antarctica to learn more about a part of the planet that is in danger and that few people have been fortunate enough to visit.

That trip was an incredible experience about which I wrote a blog.

I intend to write more in this space about past and future travel, as well as the way that travel can change the way that we see the world and its people.

Also, I’d really like to hear your thoughts on travel and where you have had the best, worst and most unlikely experiences.
