Bye, Mike!

I’m listening to Huckabee’s concession speech, and all I can think of is this quote of his:

I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution. But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that’s what we need to do is amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than trying to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view of how we treat each other and how we treat the family.

You know, McCain may represent the past and stand for more wars and fewer jobs, but at least he’s not a raving theocrat.

  1. it boils down to God — obviously Huckabbe must be so disappointed that God didn’t want him in the Whitehouse changing the constitution- maybe there is a God?

  2. Mike Huckabee is the most dangerous man in politics today. His intolerance and extreme views with regard to the interaction of church and state (as demonstrated by this quote) are hidden under a patina of good humor and affability.

I would hope that we’d heard the last of him, but I very much don’t think that is the case.

  3. Aj, ha! Huck lost bc God doesn’t want him to change the constitution!

Gob, yep! The Huckster is really dangerous bc he puts a sunny face on fundie extremism.

I don’t think McCain will pick Huckabee as his running mate, but I do get the sense that Mike is trying to position himself to have a role in the evangelical movement similar to Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell and then use that role to launch another White House bid in 2012.
