And the Bible says that such a leader will soon make his appearance on the scene. It won’t be Barack Obama, but Obama’s world tour provided a foretaste of the reception he can expect to receive.
He will probably also stand in some European capital, addressing the people of the world and telling them that he is the one that they have been waiting for. And he can expect as wildly enthusiastic a greeting as Obama got in Berlin.
The Bible calls that leader the Antichrist. And it seems apparent that the world is now ready to make his acquaintance.
See? Obama’s clearly not the Antichrist, but the fact that Obama is popular among Europeans proves that the world is ready for the Antichrist. Or something.
But I think the idea of Obama as the Antichrist is the subtext of this McCain ad:
The ad is offensive in a comical kind of way, but I think McCain’s new strategy is to smear Obama in bizarre and silly ways that will get the fundies to get out to vote for McCain, whereas they might have stayed at home otherwise, because McCain isn’t pious enough, no is he sufficiently crazy.
This attempt to smear Obama as the Antichrist, or one who is similar to Satan’s Little Helper will certainly resonate in some circles, but I can’t imagine it being powerful beyond the crowd that believes every word of e-mail forwards. You know, the ones who still thinks Obama is Muslim jihadist.
The rest of us will just point to that add as further evidence of the staggering incompetence of the McCain campaign.
