From the Inbox: The ACORN Thing

Wingnuts love to have a new thing to freak out about every day. We Moonbats might do the same, but the wingnuts are funny in their obsessions. Remember Terri Schiavo?

I just got a fundraising e-mail from the the GOP. It’s funny:

They (Democrats) will soon be trying to pad their totals at ballot boxes across the country with votes from voters that do not exist.  From Ohio and Florida to Wisconsin and Nevada, there are reports of fraudulent voter registration forms being submitted by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a liberal group that is dedicating its resources to electing the Obama-Biden Democrats.

What’s worse is the Obama-Biden campaign has funneled more than $800,000 to ACORN for work on get-out-the-vote activities conducted by the left-leaning organization.

Meh. ACORN does a lot of good work and voter registration is part of that good work.

Unfortunately, they have a system to get people registered that involves paying some of their people for each registration they get. Also unfortunately, they sometimes people who are less than scrupulous.

And let me be clear. Anyone who submits fraudlent voter registration forms needs to be fired and then prosecuted.

But, many GOP people are up in arms about ACORN’s bad voter registrations where people registered with names like Mickey Mouse or Tony Roma.

Do they really think that someone is going to show up to vote using the name “Mickey Mouse?” And if someone did, GOPers think the poll workers are too stupid to notice that name and challenge “Mickey?”

Iin the end, the ACORN thing is just another GOP ruse to try to distract from the real issues of this campaign.
