The carcass of a black bear that had been shot in the head was found wrapped in Barack Obama campaign signs on a North Carolina campus on Monday.
Western Carolina University Campus Police Chief Tom Johnson said that officers were called about a dead bear on campus at about 7:45 a.m.
When the officers found the bear carcass, they said it was covered with two campaign signs that had been taped together.
Death threats over yard signs, tires slashed at Obama rallies, racist fliers put out by state GOPs, and now this. I’m not sure what to say, but given Palin’s attacks on Obama and the fact that it appears likely that Obama will win, some of McCain’s wingiest nuts are starting to lash out.
My fear is that this kind of crap will be taken to the next level where Obama supporters are physically attacked or worse.

First of all, I’m a student at Western Carolina University. I saw the pictures that were taken by the University Police at the scene of the crime. This was absolutely an expression of the ignorant rascisim that sadly plagues this part of the country. As for the straight talk express, that thing derailed years ago. This kind of thing is not happening to John McCain, in fact, The McCain Campaign is not only creating, but fueling this kind of hate speech through their use of emotional argument. They’ve not only insinuated, but directly implied that Obama is a terrorist, a muslim, and a socialist. Not only that, but Sarah Palin has encouraged her supporters to Kill Mr. Obama.
You’re an idiot if you think that this kind of hate is found on both sides of this campaign. It’s only republicans, and it’s only the fucking ignorant ones who think violence solves problems. Don’t talk about things you have no fucking clue about. Hungtinton, opposing Obama on policy issues does not make one a racist. People of all colors can oppose Obama for a number of issues…and they racists in no ways. People who shoot bears and put Obama signs on the dead bears are racists, just as people who hang ghosts on their tress with upside down Obama signs are racists. And I hadn’t heard about the gun shot in the Obama bus. If that’s true, it’s more than loathesome. But I have been to an Obama rally, and I plan on going to another on Thursday…if I hear one person from the audience call McCain a terrorist or suggest that we ought to kill McCain, I will vote for the GOP nominee. There might be some vitriol coming from the Obama side, but I can’t imagine that it’s the violent hatred we hear from your side.
